Improvement programs shall start with a position-fixing.
At the beginning a quick ckeck that is oriented on CMMI or ISO 9001 may be sufficient. For in-depth CMMI Appraisals that have to accepted by SEI (Software engineering Institue) I cooperate with accredited Lead Appraisers. 

For many years I have done ISO 9001 internal audits and have coached the certification audits. 1993 I have done my first CMM assessment as an assessor. For many years I lead the CMM/CMMI program of a big software development and was in charge of the assessments/appraisals.
